Nevada's surge in population growth has catapulted Las Vegas into the top 50 media markets in the United States, as determined by the number of television households. Accordingly, a wide variety of electronic and print media outlets are being established to serve both English- and Spanish-speaking audiences; the Hispanic population of the state has doubled in the last decade alone.

Our electronic media comprise six southern Nevada local television stations affiliated with the largest national networks and four smaller stations in northern Nevada, along with more than 70 radio stations broadcasting a wide range of formats. The print media are represented by eight daily and 33 weekly newspapers, plus some 15 state and regional magazines.

The media is supported by advertisers anxious to reach Nevadans, whose average per capita income now exceeds $45,000 per annum. Ancillary industries, such as printing and graphic design, are also benefiting from the media surge.

Finally, Las Vegas itself has become a media star, featured in the hit network television shows CSI and Las Vegas, and persistently on the Travel Channel. The slogan "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" has become a national cultural icon.
